My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord

Altar Servers

Altar servers must be in the fourth grade through high school and be interested in serving at the Lord's Table for Mass and other liturgical services. They are trained, assigned to a team, and scheduled by the altar server coordinator. They are usually scheduled on a rotating basis so they must be flexible as to which Mass they will attend. Altar serving requires a commitment on the part of the server as well as their families. In addition to regular weekend Masses, they serve at Christmas, Thanksgiving, Confirmation, First Eucharist, Weddings, Stations of the Cross, and other special services. Anyone who is interested in serving should contact the parish office.

Altar Society

This is a group of volunteers who maintain and prepare the altar cloths and vestments for our church and chapels.

Bereavement / Consolation

If you suffer the pain of the loss of a loved one, please phone the Parish Office at: (561) 483-2440 or email: secretary@lourdesboca.org.

Christ's Poor & Hungry Apostolate

This ministry feeds the needy of our community through Saint Bernadette's Place, as well as communities all over the world through our financial stewardship. Each month there is a designated weekend collection for this organization and the proceeds are then distributed. This group meets monthly. It functions with a slate of elected officers and the volunteer membership is open to all parishioners.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Men and women that are registered parishioners in good standing in the church, have been baptized, confirmed and who demonstrate sufficient maturity to distribute the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass are welcome to join this ministry. You will assist the celebrant at Mass with the distribution of the Eucharist. Another aspect of this ministry is to distribute Communion to the homebound or patients in nursing homes and hospitals. We do require that you attend specific training sessions, should you be eligible to participate.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion - Homebound

These ministers are privileged to bring the Eucharist on a weekly basis to those in our parish community who are unable to attend Sunday Mass. The ministry also includes bringing Holy Communion to the Catholic patients at West Boca Medical Center and the Menorah House. Ministers to the homebound have a yearly one-day retreat to renew them in their ministry to the sick, and their love and reverence for the Holy Eucharist.

Lectors

For parishioners who proclaim the Word of God, we offer bi-annual classes as well as study guides to those who are interested in this ministry. Anyone who is of high school age or older, and is in good standing, may join this ministry.

Liturgy Committee

The function of the committee is to provide, convey and offer suggestions for the proper execution of the rites and rituals of our Masses and special services held during the course of the church calendar year. The committee is chaired by the Director of Music and Liturgy. The priests, deacon, sacristans, as well as other lay members make up the active body of this ministry.

Lourdes Outreach Ministry

This ministry provides assistance to families who reside within the parish boundaries. We assist with food vouchers, utility bills and rent. We also coordinate with and assist other local parishes and agencies with their efforts in this area of support.

Right to Life

This is a ministry involving issues of concern regarding the dignity of human life from conception until death. Participation in the parish and diocesan programs such as the annual Life Chain are an integral part of this ministry. We support Birthlike/Birthright as part of this ministry.

Sacristans

This is a group of men and women who assist in the preparation of the sanctuary for all Masses, sacraments, funerals, and other liturgical functions. The sacristans clean the sacred vessels, clean the sanctuary and assist in directing lectors, extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist, and altar servers.

Ushers / Ministers of Hospitality

Our ushers are a group of men and women, high school age or older, who assist the parishioners at Mass. They greet parishioners as they arrive for Mass, help to seat them, assist during the offertory, direct the congregation during communion, and distribute bulletins at the end of Mass. This group is also responsible for keeping the church in good order before and after each function.
